Our growing membership represents assisted living home owners, managers and vendors. Our goal is to support fellow colleagues in the industry and to help educate our residential assisted living community. AALHA members unite to ensure ongoing success in the quickly evolving economic, political and commercial climate of assisted living. Together, we arm ourselves with the knowledge and resources necessary to advancing the quality of Eldercare.

AALHA's ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  1. The quarterly AZDHS/Provider meetings will resume and AALHA will continue to meet with AZDHS, Arizona Care Check (a part of DHS), DES Ombudsman, AHCA, Leading Age, AHCCC and NCIA to name a few those invitees of the Providers impacting our industry.
  2. With the assistance of paid outside counsel we fought for our local Mesa Member home(s) and those care homes in Mesa. We fought to have Mesa back down from enforcing provisions of the uniform fire code in a manner that would prevent non-ambulatory or directed care residents from residing in licensed assisted living homes.
  3. We were a part of the NCIA Study Committee and was part of the final recommendation set by Governor Ducey. The most important point is that AALHA was part of the Committee’s narrow vote to retain the NCIA Board as a separate entity from AZDHS.
  4. AALHA was requested to be a participant of the Governor’s Taskforce on Reopening Long Term Care Facilities.  We kept our membership and the public at large updated on the COVID-19 Guidance for Visitation at Congregate Settings for Vulnerable Adults and Children.
  5. AALHA was requested by AZDHS to assist with the roll out for the Federal Long Term Care Vaccination Programs.  We were able to assist 600+ homes get on the list for the initial roll out.
  6. AALHA was active and wrote to our Representative on behalf of all of the 1800 licensed assisted living homes and were able to change the requirements of care providers for the SB 1373 that addressed fall prevention and recovery training. We kept this training as part of our Policy and Procedures versus a mandated outsourced fall prevention and recovery program that would have been an additional cost to us!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR AALHA WITH YOU BY OUR SIDE?

  1. A partnership with PASRS, our local placement agent office, to discuss how they can better serve our Member Homes!
  2. Each year, we interview conference sponsors and speakers to address timely topics impacting our membership
  3. If you are a Member Home or will be a NEW Member Home a board member will be stopping by shortly to present you with your Member Certificate. We are proud you have chosen to stay educated, be a part of our advocacy and stay networked with like minded colleagues.
